Yamuna e-way service lane soon

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s (YEIDA) plan to provide hassle-free connectivity to residential, institutional and commercial sectors along the expressway will take off in October. The Authority is planning to speed up work on the toll-free service road after land acquisition of eight villages moved forward.

At present, the Authority has completed work up to Dankaur area on about 20km of the proposed 36-km-long service road on the left of the expressway. Though the toll-free link road was to be ready by June 2013, some farmers approached the court asking for their land that had been acquired for the remaining stretch. Several petitions pertain to sectors 18 and 20 of the Yamuna Expressway area, where the construction of the link road remains pending.

With the implementation of the Section 6 of the Land Acquisition Act by the state government, which is a declaration that the land is required for public purposes, and the farmers are now ready to part with their land after the hike in compensation by 64.7%, the decks have been cleared for the proposed project.

According to officials, the service road is proposed between zero point near Galgotia College in Greater Noida and Jewar. Currently, the 165km expressway is the only link road for these areas. Around 25,000 people have been allotted plots, including residential plots in sectors 18 and 20. Once the link road is ready, users will need to cross the underpass at Galgotia College and take it to reach areas in and around sectors 18 and 20.

The Authority is also planning to eventually connect the parallel service road to the under-construction Noida-Greater Noida link road to provide a signal-free connectivity for sectors along Yamuna Expressway to Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi. The 130-metre-wide link road is being constructed between Parthala Khanjarpur in Sector 122 of Noida and Sirsa-Kasna in Greater Noida at a cost of Rs 28 crore.
